About/Intro

Hi all, I’m The Fruggebeast. Beastie for short if you’d like.

For my thirtieth birthday I was lucky enough to go away on an amazing holiday, and with the peace of mind that those two weeks of calm brought, I came home determined not to lose that feeling.

I had a flat that I adored, a decent job and a loving partner and family, and it wasn’t that I was unhappy; I just knew that I wasn’t making the most out of my life. For quite a few years I’d been working all hours of the day, not because I was in some life-saving profession but simply because I had a good work ethic and there always seemed to be too much to do! I had to get organised, I had to get some of my own time back and I had to find something to feel passionate about that wasn’t my work.

When I got back, organising my home was where I started. I had been neglecting it, as I always came home tired and told myself “I don’t have the energy to clean up. I’ve worked hard so I deserve to sit down and relax.” However what this generally led to was dissatisfaction with the feeling that I was failing at being an adult, frustration that the home I’d worked so hard to get was always a tip, and weekends spent tidying and cleaning when I wanted to be having fun!

At the time of starting this blog, that was two years ago. Since then I’ve been making changes, trying to find what makes me happy, and finding ways to reduce the things that don’t. Thanks for stopping by, you can read from my first post here, click ‘The Fruggebeast’ title at the top of the page to go to my most recent posts, or click on any item that interests you in the tags menu.

Enjoy, and feel free to comment and say hi!

  1. “However what this generally led to was dissatisfaction with the feeling that I was failing at being an adult, frustration that the home I’d worked so hard to get was always a tip, and weekends spent tidying and cleaning when I wanted to be having fun!” — Yup. I know this feeling intimately. It’s amazing how focussing your energy on one area of your life, whether career, side hustles, hobbies, etc., can often derail your efforts in another.
